Millburn is a popular community which has a great downtown district with thriving shops and restaurants, a movie house and the Paper Mill Playhouse regional theater. Bordering Maplewood, Livingston and Summit Millburn provides easy access to New York City via the NJ Transit Manhattan Direct train with 2 convenient stations. Its current residential population is just over 20,000, which includes the hamlet of Short Hills.
The Millburn school system is invariably ranked as one of the top in the state. Known as one of the state’s most affluent residential communities, Millburn/Short Hills is known for its luxury housing market and shopping mall. It offers a variety of housing styles and price ranges with Millburn homes generally being more affordable than those in Short Hills. The average sales price in 2020 for Millburn/Short Hills is $1,290,000. Millburn/Shorthills was recently ranked as one of the Top 100 places to live in New Jersey by New Jersey Monthly magazine.
Fun Fact: Actress Anne Hathaway was born in Milburn, attended Milburn High School and got her start on stage at the Paper Mill Playhouse appearing in plays such Jane Eyre and Gigi.
