South Orange Arts & Entertainment

Experience world-class music, theater, comedy, dance, and visual art in a modern, yet intimate space a the South Orange Performing Arts CenterSOPAC has partnered with the Juilliard School of Music to present Juilliard @ SOPAC, a weekly concert series. SOPAC is also home to the Seton Hall University Arts Council performances bringing orchestral performances, jazz, theater productions, and more!

The Seton Hall University Arts Council promotes the visual, literary, and performing arts throughout the South Orange community. Come see students from Seton Hall University on stage at SOPAC or at the Seton Hall Theater on campus. The Seton Hall Theatre offers co-curricular activities for the College of Communication and the Arts' Theater program. The Seton Hall Theatre offers a wide variety of theatrical performances. 

The Pierro Gallery of South Orange, founded in 1994, presents diverse work from emerging artists, as well established artists in a welcoming venue. The Gallery has up to seven exhibitions per year and also offers lectures, panel discussions, workshops, and more free of charge!

The Baird Community Center is a multi-use facility that is home to the South Orange Village Department of Recreation and Cultural Affairs. It is also home to several art classrooms, indoor theater, meetings rooms, and the Pierro Gallery among other things. The Baird hosts performances as well as concerts.

Maplewood Arts & Entertainment

Maplewood 1978 Arts Center provides workshops and classes, film programs, art shows, and live performances as well as forums for artists to work, interact, and exhibit. 

The Maplewood Glee Club puts on semi-annual concerts and offers scholarships to those continuing music studies. The Glee Club was founded in 1946 and the Maplewood Recreation Department became their official sponsor in 1968. 

Three orchestras and one ensemble make up the Youth Orchestras of Essex County The YOEC offers student musicians aged 7-18 an opportunity to make friends while deepening their musical skills, learning from professional musicians. They play four annual concerts, two of which are held at the South Orange Performing Arts Center, and the others are held in community theaters. 

Located underground at the library, the Underground Concert Series began in 1999 and has been bringing eclectic world and folk music to Maplewood ever since. 

The Maplewood Theater has been a beacon of the Maplewood community for 20 years. From first dates to star-studded movie premieres, the Maplewood Theater is always there for your movie going needs. 

The Strollers Community Theatre Company at the Burdorff Center for the Performing Arts. Every year the Strollers produce two plays and a musical, as well as a midwinter children's theater production.
